Safe and transparent protection for homes, apartments, offices and public buildings. N2Mesh manufactures custom stainless steel cable nets for balustrades, balconies, stairs, voids and mezzanines.
Stainless steel cable nets are ideal as infill for balustrades, balconies, stairs and voids. They combine high safety with open sightlines and a modern architectural appearance.
Thanks to their flexibility, cable nets easily follow straight lines, sloped planes and more complex shapes. This creates safe protection without making the design feel heavy or closed.

Along open stair sides, cable nets can be used as fall protection. They follow sloped lines and can be adapted to the shape of the stair structure.

As balustrade infill, stainless steel cable nets provide safe protection with a modern, transparent appearance. They are ideal for homes, apartments, offices and public buildings.

For balconies, cable nets provide safety without blocking the view. They are particularly suitable for projects where natural light, transparency and aesthetics are important.

In voids, mezzanines, lofts and industrial spaces, stainless steel cable nets offer a strong and durable solution for height protection while maintaining openness.
| Mesh size KD × LD | Cable diameters | Typical application | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 × 52 mm | 1,5 mm | Schools, childcare facilities, public stairwells | Very safe choice where small openings and limited climbability are important. |
| 35 × 60 mm | 1,5 / 2 mm | Schools, public buildings, residential balustrades | Strong balance between transparency, safety and resistance to climbing. |
| 40 × 69 mm | 1,5 / 2 mm | Anti-climb balustrades, schools, public buildings | Most commonly used option for anti-climb applications. Suitable where child safety and limited climbability are important. |
| 50 × 87 mm | 1,5 / 2 / 3 mm | Residential balustrades, apartment buildings, terraces | Suitable where transparency is important. For anti-climb requirements, the application should be assessed on a project-specific basis. |
| 60 × 104 mm | 1,5 / 2 / 3 mm | General balustrades, terraces, galleries | Most commonly used standard size for general balustrades. Open, lightweight and architectural. |
| 70 × 121 mm | 1,5 / 2 / 3 mm | Architectural infill, screening, low-risk applications | Can be used depending on the project, but is not recommended where anti-climb performance or child safety is a key requirement. |
| 80 × 140 mm | 1,5 / 2 / 3 mm | Decorative nets, façades, visual screening | Primarily suitable for architectural or decorative applications. |
| 100 × 173 mm | 1,5 / 2 / 3 / 4 mm | Large spans, decorative applications, green areas | Not recommended as a standard option for safety balustrades; only to be used after technical assessment. |
A cable net in a balustrade must do more than simply look good. It must protect people from falling, limit openings and, in certain buildings, also prevent children from using the net as a climbing surface.
That is why we assess every application based on three safety questions:
For homes, apartments and terraces, the combination of fall protection, transparency and appearance is especially important. In schools, childcare centres, sports halls, public stairwells and other buildings with many children, stricter requirements often apply. In these cases, not only fall protection is assessed, but also the risk of climbing, because this is always an important point of attention.
For projects where child safety is central, we recommend considering 40 × 69 mm as the maximum size. If an even stricter solution is required, 30 × 52 mm or 35 × 60 mm are recommended.

For general balustrades, 60 × 104 mm is the most commonly used standard size. This mesh gives an open, light and architectural appearance while remaining suitable for many residential and general applications.
This size is often chosen for apartments, private terraces, residential balustrades, galleries, passageways and general fall protection without a specific anti-climb requirement. It offers a strong balance between safety, transparency and price efficiency.
The cable diameter helps determine the robustness, stiffness and impact resistance of the net. For many applications, a cable diameter of 1.5 mm or 2.0 mm is sufficient, but for intensive use or an increased risk of impact, a heavier cable is recommended.
Stainless steel cable nets are strong, durable and visually light. They provide safe protection without disturbing the view or the architecture. This makes them suitable for modern homes, public buildings, industrial spaces and renovation projects.

Every balustrade, stair or void requires an adapted execution. That is why we assess the right net configuration, fixing method and finish for each project.
Yes. Stainless steel cable nets are a strong and transparent solution for balustrades, balconies, stairs and voids, provided that the correct net configuration and fixing method are selected.
This depends on the application, the desired appearance and the safety requirements. Finer mesh sizes are often chosen for balustrades, while larger mesh sizes may be suitable for voids or wider fall-protection applications. We are happy to advise you for each project.
Yes. Our stainless steel cable nets are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. AISI 316 stainless steel is durable and highly resistant to weather conditions.
Yes. Cable nets are particularly suitable for sloping lines, open stair sides, voids and mezzanines. They can be custom-made according to the shape and dimensions of the project.
This is often possible. We assess in advance whether the existing steel, timber, concrete or other supporting structure is suitable for fixing stainless steel cable nets.
Yes. For projects where appearance is important, the AISI 316 stainless steel cables can be coated in the desired colour.
